At the World’s Edge is a classical music festival inspired by its roots in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. With spectacular sounds against majestic scapes, experience chamber music in New Zealand alongside internationally renowned musicians, lifelong enthusiasts, and curious adventurers alike.
Spanning six enchanting programmes across Central Otago, the At the World’s Edge Festival offers a journey that will ignite the senses, inspire the soul, and imprint upon you the stirring sound of music, old and new. With each performance offering waypoints that explore the contrast between solitude and togetherness, be inspired by the process of creativity in the musical landscape with the best of chamber music in NZ. Some moments simply need to be experienced yourself.

Free Public Events | Te Atamira
A series of open rehearsals, interactive workshops and an exhibition with works reflecting the themes of the 2022 AWE Festival. A weaving together of chamber music and community, there's a place for one and for all At the World's Edge Festival 2022.
Open rehearsals | Wednesday 12 October & Friday 14 October | 10am - 1pm
Experience the sights and sounds of AWE Festival artists deep within their performance preparation at Te Atamira, with composer talks and opportunities to meet and chat.
Young Musicians Day | Wednesday 12 October | 3pm - 5pm
An event to introduce young, local musicians to AWE Artists and performances - an interactive event at Te Atamira in partnership with the local Turn up the Music Trust.
Gamelan Percussion Workshop | Friday 14 October | 1-2pm
With music highly influenced by Balinese Gamelan, this year’s AWE Composer-in-Residence Gareth Farr leads a series of interactive workshops, introducing exuberant instruments and complex interlocking rhythms.
Emerging Artist Showcase | Saturday 15 October | 6pm - 6.30pm
A second opportunity to hear our 2022 Emerging Artists, this time performing music written by composers in their youth. Free entry – no booking required.
