Using the photographic series Alta (2016-2024), by artist Marc Blake, you'll learn a little about the theory of using art as a prompt for writing and do some warm-up exercises before getting on with some creative writing in a supportive environment.

About Bethany Rogers:

Bethany Rogers is a professional writer who assists financial institutions and professional services with copywriting and communications strategy... but she wasn't always that exciting. She has a dark history as an author of short stories, poetry and flash fiction. Her work has been published internationally, shortlisted for the Manchester Fiction Prize and won the Otago regional prize in the New Zealand Flash Fiction Day competition. In 2021, she was selected for the PEN NZ Inc Mentor Programme for emerging writers and in 2022 published Kaleidoscopes in the Dark, a dark fiction short story collection. She was a founding trustee of the Queenstown Writers Festival and helped to run the Queenstown Creative Writing Group for many years. These days, she's keeping out of trouble by quietly working on a novel.
