This immersive installation asks the viewer to imagine the dissolving, dispersion, and evaporation of substances around us. Large industrial-like sieves sway in the space, part functional, part dreamed. What else do we sift through in our lives, filter out and separate?

This project builds on current research around transient natural materials, like sand, seeds, air and water. Equally it navigates an environmental fragility; the delicate balance that exists within land, and the precarious situation of the body (viewer) within this space.

Sift (sieve, screen, riddler, strainer, filter) definition; to put (a fine or loose substance) through a sieve so as to remove large particles, or to examine (something) thoroughly so as to isolate that which is most important.
