Join Southland artist Lyle Penisula in this painting workshop, exploring aspects of your identity through drawing and paint. Saturday 24 August, 1pm - 4pm

This class welcomes all skill levels, whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist.

Lyle Penisula, recently selected for Mīharo Murihiku Trust’s annual Senior Artist exhibition for 2024, will guide you through the process. Lyle's art, deeply rooted in his Samoan and Scottish heritage and his faith, is inspired by his late father, renowned Samoan carver Johnny Penisula. Ordained into pastoral ministry in 2001, Lyle brings a unique perspective to the art of self-portraiture.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn from Lyle and explore the rich tapestry of cultural identity through your own self-portrait.

A note on materials:

Participants are encouraged to bring their journals, sketchbooks, and any of their preferred artistic media. While pencils, paint, paper, and collage materials will be provided, bringing your own ideas and materials will make your experience even more personal and unique.
