Join us to delve into the remarkable schist exhibition in our Whakaari gallery, Stone Moves, with Curator of Art at Hocken Collections, Hope Wilson. Unpack the layers of geological, botanical and cultural history embedded in Miranda Bellamy and Amanda Fauteux’s installation of this much loved local stone. | Saturday 27 May | WHAKAARI | 2-3pm | FREE
Miranda Bellamy and Amanda Fauteux’s installation Stone Moves unfolds the stories held within schist. The layers embedded in each rock trace millennia of powerful metamorphic forces; its familiar built forms trace the movement of people, plants and capital.
This talk is part of the public programme for Stone Moves.
