Join us for a two-part wire weaving workshop with exhibiting artist Jasmine Clark, as part of the Unifying Threads exhibition presented by the mothermother collective. Tuesdays 13 and 20 May, 10am - 1pm
In this two-day workshop, you’ll learn the techniques of copper wire weaving and create your own beautiful wire sculptures and baskets under Jasmine’s guidance. No experience necessary.
All materials provided, but feel free to bring your own tools if you have them. Recommended tools: long-nose pliers, side cutters, protective eyewear, and an apron.
Arrowtown-based artist Jasmine Clark grew up in Karekare on Auckland’s west coast and was introduced to weaving by her grandmother and mother, both rug weavers. She studied sculpture and object design at Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland and visual arts at Nelson Polytechnic. Over the past 20 years, Jasmine has developed innovative weaving and sculptural techniques inspired by natural forms and processes. Her work incorporates a range of natural and recycled materials, including flax, rattan, driftwood, willow, copper wire, pumice, and sea bull kelp.
